Unwanted tattoos can have you feeling self-conscious, bummed out, and downright angry. Luckily, with today’s laser technologies, what was once permanent can now virtually disappear with fewer treatments, faster recovery time, and greater results than ever before.
How does it work?
Advanced laser technology delivers pulses of energy into the tattoo ink, breaking up the pigment into smaller molecules which are then absorbed by the body. The result is less unwanted pigmentation and smoother, clearer looking skin.
Results may vary depending on the ink colors used in the tattoo. Typically, red inks and darker colors respond well to laser treatment. Other colors may be difficult to remove, although there will still be a noticeable improvement.
At our practice, we have different lasers, each designed to target specific ink colors.
What can I expect?
We perform laser tattoo removal on an outpatient basis in our office. Most patients tolerate the procedure comfortably, describing a light snapping sensation. For more sensitive patients or when doing work on large tattoos, a numbing cream may be used. Patients resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Life’s circumstances often change. Relationships change. For a multitude of reasons, individuals may no longer want a tattoo that they previously loved. However, when an individual gets a tattoo, both that individual and the tattoo artist intended for the tattoo to be there forever. The truth is, it is harder and takes longer to get rid of a tattoo than it does to get the tattoo in the first place. But with the proper equipment and experience, removing that tattoo is often possible.
At Shore Vascular & Vein Center we perform laser tattoo removal using the Enlighten III Pico Laser, one of the most powerful, advanced and effective lasers available anywhere for tattoo removal. We were the first center in our region, and still one of the only centers in the area, to offer this groundbreaking state-of-the-art technology. With the Enlighten III laser, it is possible to remove many tattoos more completely, in less time, with fewer treatments and for lower total cost than most other lasers.
On average, professionally done tattoos will require 5-10 treatments, spaced 6-10 weeks apart, to reach their final result. Of course, all individuals and all tattoos are unique. Therefore, total treatments and results may vary considerably from person to person. These projections are for the average tattoo that we treat. Individual cases may require a larger or smaller number of treatments. We will examine your tattoo(s) and provide information on cost and give you detailed expectations regarding final results and the number of treatments required to reach those results.
