Tests Performed in Our Vascular Lab
We perform testing designed to identify the vascular conditions most likely to lead to varicose or spider veins and other complications. The most common tests include:
Ankle-Brachial Index
Similar to a standard blood pressure reading, the ankle-brachial index (ABI) allows Dr. Gosin to measure blood flow in your legs and arms using a blood pressure cuff to compare circulation between your ankles and arm, indicating your overall leg circulation.
Duplex Ultrasound
This ultrasound test allows Dr. Gosin to evaluate blood flow in your arteries and veins. It can identify blockages that may lead to serious complications, such as abdominal pain, kidney blockage, aneurysmal disease, and stroke.
What to Expect During Testing
Tests performed in our noninvasive lab are simple and typically don’t require much of your time. During an ABI test, your provider only needs access to your arm and ankle to apply the pressure cuff, so loose-fitting clothing helps for comfort and ease of access. During a duplex ultrasound, your provider applies a clear gel to the treatment area to produce a clearer image, which is removed following the test.
