Depending upon an individual’s situation, it may be preferable to remove certain varicose veins in order to obtain the best overall results. When this is necessary, we use the microphlebectomy technique.  Although certain veins are removed during this procedure, it should NOT be confused with an “old-fashioned” vein stripping operation.

Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure during which veins are removed through tiny openings, so small that stitches are not required. Patients experience only minimal discomfort, walk immediately following the procedure, and generally return to their usual activities within about a day.  Cosmetic results are excellent. Microphlebectomy does not require hospitalization and is performed under local anesthesia, sometimes with light sedation.
